Show some love for the heart of your home

August 14, 2017

Everything that is said about the kitchen being the heart of the home I find easily relatable and warm at the thought of.

One very simple thing, easily taken for granted, and thats having family and friends in and around the kitchen, getting together to indulge in something delicious. A few glasses of wine, great company, and ambient music mixed with the warmth and smell of your next meal, is something magical.

When it comes to building the perfect kitchen, or simply breathing life into the one you have, design options are endless, so let your creativity run free.

Here are a few tips, tricks and pics to induce your creativity.

Beauty meets functionality

I thought I would begin with a kitchen that ticks all the boxes for me. I feel

this modern industrial design flows so beautifully, and creates the exact feeling that the perfect kitchen should. Matte black is very in at the moment when it comes to kitchen design, and i find its well complemented alongside exposed brick and the light coloured flooring.

A match made in design heaven.

The island bench layout makes this kitchen feel very communal, and the open space flowing into the dining room allows for a great entertaining space, and invites all the family hustle and bustle that a room like this should be full of.

Cover, colour create

If your kitchen is in great shape, but you want a change or it’s just in need of a facelift, there are some simple yet effective ways to pump life back into your possibly outdated room without breaking the bank.

Just by throwing on a lick of paint to your cupboard doors, adding some basic mouldings and changing your bench tops, you can have the feel of brand new kitchen for around $2000 - $5000. It’s a relatively inexpensive way to revamp and completely lift a favourite part of your home, whilst most possibly adding value to your property too.

Best of both worlds

Don’t be fooled that your dream kitchen has to break the bank. Believe it or not this kitchen in the picture below is sold in Bunnings!

Kaboode is a DIY kitchen company proving that you can create something beautiful on a budget that makes sense

A kitchen kit from Kaboodle can cost from $2500 up to around $11000 and they look beautiful. They have many designs and sizes to fit all types of kitchen space and to satisfy many tastes and desires.

Cosy kitchens

If you have limited space you may need to get creative with how you choose to lay your kitchen.

If you are short on square meters there are creative space savers that could help squeeze everything in without too much compromise. You can get half sized dishwashers, or even a dishwashing draw, skinny fridges and little tuck away ovens. You can find amazing cupboards and drawers that pull, slide pop and sneak to help create marry poppins like space in your small kitchen.

Whatever your taste or however you design your kitchen, it’s about walking the line between personality and functionality that when the balance is found, you have yourself a room that really makes a house your home.
