We all know pigs can’t fly.
Sometimes, I (along with many others) am forced to feel like that 120kg pig who’s dream is to take to the skies and to one day feel weightless, feeling the wind rushing through it’s curly tail. But instead of a pig, I’m a Sydney sider, and instead of flying, i would like to maybe, possibly own a house in Sydney one day.
From where I am sat, as a wanna be first time home buyer, it’s a tall order.
With Sydney’s median house price now touching the $1,124,000 mark many people are left counting their coins, wondering if it’s time to put the pig wings in the trash, give up, and look elsewhere.
Well, if you have ever thought of buying overseas, here are some beautiful places you could buy with that $1,124m and be claiming title of king instead of, well... average.
1.France
France has too many castles and mansions they hardly know what to do with them.
For the price of a two bed house in epping, you can buy this!
This amazing eleven bedrooms colossal mansion could be yours for a very modest $872,000. It’s set on 2.87 hectares and has stables, ballroom, billiard room, and even a bakery. I’m guessing there may be a fair bit to do in maintenance and upkeep, but if you wait until Sylky is up and running in France, you will have nothing to worry about. ;)
2.USA
When the GFC hit America, property took a big hit. In the depths of the crisis, homeowners were leaving their houses empty and being forced to claim bankruptcy due to the drastic fall in property prices mixed with large employment cuts. Now as the country recovers is a great time to do your research and pick up a property ready for a price hike.
This may not be the property you choose to purchase for that reason. To be honest, I just like this one and it’s a whole lot of house.
$1,213,060 buys you this stunning 5 bedder in Georgia.
Included on this 5584 sqm property is a fully modern interior with a bar, an abundance of space, and an all important man cave. I think that’s all the information I need… Sold
3.England
If quaint is more your style, you would be hard pushed to go past property in the England.
England is covered in stunning countryside, with old stone cottages and barn conversions, too large manor houses, England has it all.
$1,124m will buy you around £652,500, which depending on where you choose to look can buy the perfect place.
I love the south west, so I looked for a place in Cornwall and found this gem in Looe for £705,000 ($1,214m).
This listed 6 bed farmhouse is just stunning, surrounded by rolling hills as far as the eye can see.
For me this feels slightly more appealing than that run down “renovators dream” you have been looking at, out the back of Brookvale.
4.Canada
Canada is often compared with Australia as one of the best places to live in the world. With such intense beauty and more mountains to ski than you could ever shake your stick at, I can understand why.
On the edge of lake Superior sits this beautiful home. With six bedrooms and four bathrooms you get a lot for your money at $1,121,000 Aus.
For me, this ticks so many boxes as the perfect home. It’s warm, spacious, has plenty of land and also a basketball court and a gym!
It is easy to allow your mind to wander around what could be, but there is a reason why Sydney has such incredibly high house prices and it is evident every day. All we have to do is open our eyes and take advantage of this wonderland we are lucky enough to live in.
If you love your home in Sydney, give it the care it deserves, and use Sylky for all of your maintenance and upgrades!
