As with most major cities in the world now, living in Sydney offers up everything a busy, thriving city can fit on a platter and more. But as we all know, it doesn’t come with out the painful price tag. So the majority of first time home byers and renters are forced into compromising on general living space just to be able to get a foot on the ladder or to rent within a 30 minute commute to the city.
So here are some innovative and left thinking ways that people have created space in small living quarters that will get those experimental juices flowing.
Start Simple.
One thing that everyone can do to minimise clutter in a small area is to have under bed storage. These beds are fantastic for hiding away many of those bits and pieces that you don’t use often like winter coats and boots though the summer, and Hawaiian shirts and straw hats in the winter.
If you are planning on buying a bed anyway, you can find these for a similar price tag as a normal bed. With plenty of designs to choose from they make a great storage solution for anyone and everyone.
Wall mount everything.
If you look hard enough, or are handy and inventive you are able to wall mount pretty much everything. If you can hang something on the wall that looks like art, but at the same time accessible and out of the way, you are on to a clear winner.
I love these bike mounts, I think it looks great on the wall and means you don’t need a garage or lock up to keep your transport in. This also works perfectly for guitars, surfboards and obviously your television to keep your floors as clutter free as possible.
Stair into the future and draw inspiration
I can’t believe this is not done more often. It makes so much sense to use all of the space you can create in a smaller home, and optimise functionality.
By asking your carpenter to work out a way to build draws into your stairs is such a cool idea. There is a bit of fiddling around to make this happen, but the results mean for more unseen and unexpected storage, and less bulky chests of draws randomly plonked in a room.
Perfection in small packages.
If you are able to build a small living space with your head locked on to creating hidden storage and making the most of nooks and unused crannies, also where to hide and conceal bulky items. You are able to create a small, beautiful living space that has all of the essentials, and non-essentials! but still keeping a clear de-cluttered home and therefore, mind.
Create something beautiful and clever in your home.
